AG-PAK, INC. HISTORY

Ag-Pak Office on the Erie Canal

Ag-Pak Office on the Erie Canal

Incorporated in 1963, Ag-Pak, Inc. began as a spin-off from Lobee Pump and Machinery Company. Both Lobee and Ag-Pak operate from the same office and factory complex in Gasport, NY.

At that time the main products were washers and sizers for road-side farm markets and small packing houses. This business was too seasonal so in 1968 Ag-Pak started manufacturing weighing and bagging equipment. This machinery was sold year-round.

In the 1980’s Ag-Pak was appointed the exclusive North American distributor for the NEWTEC® line of weighers and baggers. Since then NEWTEC® and Ag-Pak have expanded into optical grading and sizing machinery. Ag-Pak also sells and services equipment from C-Pack, Jasa, Gillenkirch, and Daumar Packaging Solutions.

Facilities

Ag-Pak occupies 14,500 sq ft of factory and office space at our Gasport, NY location. Our office is located on the south bank of the Erie Canal. The building is a former basket factory. Lumber was brought in via the canal and delivered to the marina which is now our parking lot. The lumber was milled and turned into baskets. Our home town of Gasport owes its very existence to the canal.

The oldest part of our factory was originally a Civil War era munitions factory. It has changed a great deal since the late 1800’s but the exterior still shows the cobble stone construction iconic to the Erie Canal region.

Our factory manufactures our own line of Conveyors, Baggers, and Accessories. All aspects of manufacturing can be done “in-house” including welding, machining, assembly, and painting. We build our own electrical panels which are UL listed. We also assemble complete packaging lines in the shop.
